The Sons of Korah have captured their grief, sadness, and longing in this powerful song. As we come to the final verse, we hear the Psalmist Processing the Pain. As he does, we find a timeless and powerful truth that will transform us, not only in the current season of pain but in every season that we will ever face again.

Everyone loves the beach. We watch the waves come in and out; the tides rising and falling. It’s scenic. It’s also a picture of what our grief is like. Good days are followed by rough days and highs alternate with lows. This week we continue in Psalm 42 and see the psalmist experiencing the Tides of Grief.

In our playlists we have a song for every mood and occasion. This week we turn to the Psalms, the songbook of God’s people, and we see that scriptural playlist is no different. Here we find songs for whatever life may bring, including deep pain and grief. For the next few weeks we’ll be looking at Psalm 42 and 43 beginning with the First Verse and the Chorus.
